GOOD ARCHITECTURE AWARD IN HESSE 2018 | RESIDENTIAL BUILDING AM HEILIGENSTOCK

“Johann Wilhelm Lehr was one of the founding fathers of the ‘Neues Bauen’ movement in Wiesbaden, and played a key role in shaping the residential districts of the city with his clear, cubic designs. As a dedicated member of the progressive architects’ association ‘The Ring’ – a society that also included Gropius, May, Mies van der Rohe and Taut – Lehr stuck to the principles of modernism, even after 1945. The Union print house, which was built in 1927 in Frankfurt am Main and destroyed in the war, was one of his most successful early pieces of work; the Kampschulte building in Wiesbaden, which dates back to 1960, is an example of one of his outstanding late works.
To honour his exemplary work in the field of architecture, the BDA Group Wiesbaden awards the ‘Johann Wilhelm Lehr Plaque’ as part of the BDA Architecture Award ‘Large Buildings, Small Buildings – Excellent Architecture in Hesse’.” – www.bda-hessen.de

The prize is presented by the Association of German Architects every five years to good examples of exemplary architecture in Hesse. Christ.Christ. impressed the top-class jury for this year’s award with two projects.
